THIS WEEK'S PROJECTION: Georgia Tech vs. TCU
The only bowl game to complain about is the Orange Bowl, because I do not see this being the game featuring TCU. First off, the ACC winner gets the nod which is Georgia Tech or Clemson, and if Clemson wins zero chance TCU goes to Miami because that will be a rematch. Also, the order of picks goes: Orange, Fiesta, and then Sugar. The SEC runner up will go to the Sugar Bowl and the the Fiesta Bowl will get a replacement before this order and could pick Boise State, TCU, Iowa, Penn State, or Oklahoma State (assuming Texas is in title game).
Even if TCU is not chosen for the Fiesta on their replacement pick the Orange Bowl may not want another Big East team against ACC; especially since it would be Cincinatti's return trip to the Orange Bowl. Expect the Orange Bowl to take the second Big 10 team to help with ratings, and that leaves the Fiesta again or Sugar and I feel TCU will be heading to New Orleans; well unless they can get into the BCS title game.

If Texas plays in the Rose Bowl, TCU may get the Fiesta Bowl nod.
The at-large picking order starts with the Orange Bowl, but before any at-large selecting occurs the bowl games get their replacement picks if the conference champion is playing in the championship game.
Since Texas would be in the national championship & no other Big 12 teams are worth of being selected, the Fiesta Bowl might take TCU.
Sugar bowl is taking Florida or Alabama with their replacement pick.
Then the Orange Bowl gets their pick.

Best case scenario (If TCU doesn't play for the National Championship)
Sugar Bowl vs Florida.
TCU has the athletes to match up with Florida. Nothing speaks louder for the Mountain West conference to beat Tim Tebow in his senior season one year following their BcS national championship. Utah beating up on SEC power Alabama created huge noise for the conference, and a second year in a row would be even better.
TCU is about 550 miles from New Orleans, and I’m sure would travel well.

totally agree with you. florida's offense is no where near as potent as it was last year
i say tcu would pull it out 24-21. the mwc could say we beat the two best teams in the sec for two years. that would give us major publicty and an aq bcs conf. status.
yes i am obsessive, obnoxious, in your face and all about covering the spread. those are my good qualities.

matchup
Id am very confident TCU could be Bama, but Florida as I have mentioned recently has the chance to explode offensively unklike Bama.
Not saying TCU could not beat either, but Bama would be easier but Florida would give more cred to TCU and the MWC. It will be Sugar or Fiesta just depends if Texas gets to the title game or if Okie State gets high enough. I would love a TCU/Texas Fiesta Bowl but that is a long shot unless Texas and one of the SEC schools lose prior to championship Saturday.
ust wish Rivals would do their research on bowl selection. Orange in my opinion will take a Big 10 if possible.

I'd expect...
the Orange to take a Big 10 team or offensive team against Clemson/GT just because of the offensive explosion they’d have (Big East/Big 12) or the ticket sales (Big 10). The Orange Bowl can’t afford another year of giving away tickets so it’ll probably be a Big 10 team.
Don’t want to hate my own alma mater, but I don’t see TCU fans bringing 30,000 to Miami ‘cause that’s what it’d take to help sellout a game with GT down there. GT’s traveling base will max out around 40-45k. We don’t have a bandwagon and our living alumni base is only around 98k spread across the U.S..
This new learning amazes me, Sir Bedevere. Explain again how sheep's bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes.
I would also think that TCU fans would feel slighted to be matched up with Georgia Tech because Tech has been out of the national conversation for so long.

making it to the BCS
at this point should not be a slight to TCU. Beggars cannot be choosers. And at this point they’re still competing with Boise for a spot in the BCS. I’d think the matchup is irrelevant this year. They are not playing a barely .500 Pitt team ala Utah a few years back. TCU will get a solid opponent that will most likely beat them. Just my opinion after watching the Horned Frogs and most of the MWC’s big OOC games.
This new learning amazes me, Sir Bedevere. Explain again how sheep's bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes.
Who's begging?
There is no reason to believe that TCU couldn’t beat any team in the country.

Common opponents
Look at common opponents of Tech and TCU because they stack up perfectly:
UVA – GT won by 25, TCU won by 16
Clemson – GT won by 3, TCU won by 4
Right now, I’d say Tech could beat TCU. Both teams played their common opponents the same. There’s your argument for TCU not going to the National Title merely because Tech did the same thing TCU did and would not be going to the MNC game.
Simple proof for this:
Tech = TCU
Tech < UF/Bama/UT
therefore TCU < UF/Bama/UT.

wow...
I didn’t realize how strong the purple kool-aid was out west… East Coast is talking about which SEC team is gonna play Texas. No one’s even considering TCU as an MNC contender.

Has nothing to do with "kool aid"
I’m not a TCU fan by any means

How about this math for you?
10-0 (1.000) > 10-1 (9.09). I thought you Tech fans were good at math?

we are...
We know the last time we went undefeated, we still didn’t win a consensus National Championship because of a 5th down. College football isn’t fair. We weren’t all created equal.
I’m just saying that having seen Tech play Clemson and UVA live and having seen TCU play Clemson and UVA, Tech has an edge on TCU. That’s all I’m saying. And if Tech doesn’t deserve a shot at the MNC, neither does TCU.
This new learning amazes me, Sir Bedevere. Explain again how sheep's bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes.
What kind of sense does that make?
Your subjective measurement of two common teams somehow is relevant to a national championship discussion? GT doesn’t deserve a shot at the MNC because they LOST end of story. Not because you have an erroneous opinion.

Here I'll use your own logic and implode your theory
GT lost to Miami, Miami beat Oklahoma, Oklahoma lost to BYU, and TCU is going to crush BYU.

well
BYU lost to FSU too, who lost to Tech. Circular logic at its best, right? TCU would probably lose to an undefeated Miami at Landshark, too. That place is a zoo when they’re undefeated, literally.
I’m talking about actual common opponents and matchups, which is probably one of the best ways to determine head-heads, I think, if neither team played each other. It’s the only real judge we have when comparing teams that haven’t played, in my opinion.
And since TCU has played two common ACC foes, I think there are some legitimate arguments and comparisons to be made.
Let’s look at some numbers. TCU total offense against UVA and CU was 380 and 388 yards, respectively, while they gave up 177 and 309 total yards to their two common opponents. GT offense racked up 447 and 418 yards against UVA and CU while allowing 198 and 386. If you take the net yardage difference totals, TCU outgained CU and UVA by 282 yards combined. GT outgained CU and UVA by 281 yards combined. Pretty neat.
Turnover margin is dead even for all four games. Seriously, 0 net turnovers.
Net points. GT outscored the Cavs/Tigers by 28 while TCU outscored them by 20. Not too big a difference considering UVA was blown out both times and Tigers played both teams close.
Finally, I’m not saying GT should be in the MNC. I’m just saying that TCU doesn’t deserve to be in there with a comparable resume to GT if GT doesn’t deserve to be there. Undefeated doesn’t mean anything. It’s who you went undefeated against and how that stacks up to other teams that really matters.
This new learning amazes me, Sir Bedevere. Explain again how sheep's bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes.
Reason for not GT
Is because TCU wants to play a traditional national power like Alabama/Florida/Texas. Ga. Tech is as good as the the top 3, but if TCU were to matchup and beat GT the national media would say oh its just Tech and not a traditional power.
This game would be good because it would be speed vs. speed when Ga. Tech is on offense.

I agree.
It would be somewhat similar to Utah vs Pitt in 2004, but it would be a lot better.
They “prove themselves” more by beating an Alabama, Florida or Texas. I think a Texas showdown would be awesome, but I think either Texas or TCU is playing for the National Championship in Pasadena. That is why I’m hoping that they are selected to the Sugar Bowl if not the Championship Game.

Both teams are coming off tough losses.
Utah was blown out, and SDSU blew a big lead. I’m expecting some high intensity in this one.

Thanks for the love Sam.
I’ll be pissed and so will the Mountain West if Wyoming loses to the sheep in the season finale.
That's ok maybe we'll beat Utah and UNLV and we all can have a big party
