Do The Harris Poll Voters Even Watch Football?
This is getting to be a joke there is one voter who sometimes votes in the poll and now this. This week is the worst offenses and lets start at the bottom in the other receiving votes category with Boston College who received three votes after they defeated Central Michigan who garnered 24 points. How does that happen with a head to head beat down.
The real travesty is this weeks poll that actually counts toward deciding who plays in the BCS bowl games. Boise State received a first place vote after they soundly defeated San Jose State, besides that being ridiculous just as it was last year with Utah getting a first place vote through the regular season but due to contractual obligations that vote went to Florida after their bowl win.
Then there is the computer lovin' Iowa Hawkeyes performed their greatest Houdini impressesion by beating Indiana. That game featured five picks and a fumble, as well as their twenty-eight fourth quarter points for the win. After all of that two Harris poll decided to give them first place votes? How does that work, do the Harris Poll voters like drama, or come from behind victories, doubtful. They looked at the box score and saw an Iowa beat down. They moved up a spot to seven and some how are a head of Oregon who beat previously number four ranked USC quite convincenly.
This is not the first time voting has been wack. Last year Harris Poll voters admit to not watching Utah on their way to the Sugar Bowl:
Just ask some of the voters in the Harris Interactive Poll, which helps determine the title-game matchup.
"I did not see them play [in the regular season]," Bobby Aillet said.
"I didn’t see any live games," Lance McIlhenny said. "I just [saw] highlights."
"I don’t recall if I saw them play specifically during the regular season," David Housel said. "I don’t remember a specific game."
The only sane news was that TCU moved up one spot after smoking UNLV.

Re: Iowa
Ugly, yes… but I think Indiana’s 4th quarter performance showed how big of a factor the wind was. I’m not saying that makes it alright, but Stanzi in the 3rd Q and Indiana’s QB in the 4th Q both had a couple of interceptions that were only such because the wind caused the ball to stay in the air too long.
Not defending or anything, but it was a factor.

As for Boise over
TCU, Cincy, Iowa & even Oregon… just stupid.

Its just downright dumb.

nope
Depends if there are 8 or 9 conference games but I’d put good money on boise getting 10 wins in the MWC

The desparity b/w Central Michigan & BC is absurd
For me, it’s like a merry-go-round trying to figure out which poll is worse: Coaches or Harris

My guess on the Iowa & BSU 1st place votes
Is that they come from voters who are tired of their fellow pollsters insisting that at no time should you question the wisdom of putting two SEC teams, Texas, and at least one one-loss Pac 10 team in the top 5 over the “second tier” of unbeaten schools.
Or, more likely, they are votes from ‘homers’ in Boise and Iowa City who are tired of the labeling of their local teams as “flukes” after every game they’ve won season. (And in Boise’s case, year after year even despite a BCS bowl win.)
Don’t get me wrong, Oregon deserves to be there after an impressive beatdown, but I’m sad to see the nation’s sportswriters and sportspundits so eager to suck off another one-loss Pac-10 team after getting the trojan slapped out of their mouth, simply because people would lose their collective shit if at least one Pac-10 team wasn’t lurking somewhere in the hunt.
