Week Eight Polls are Out
The BCS standings will be released later today, but it looks like that TCU will be in a dead heat with Boise State and possibly ahead. While Boise State did what they needed to do in blowing out Hawai'i, but TCU's beat down over BYU was better in comparissions -- which the voters agreed with.
In the all important coaches poll TCU moved up one spot and surpassed Cincinatti to sixth and is within 21 points of Boise State who is at five. What is amazing is that Boise State only lose one point in the polls while TCU gained sxity-two points from the voters.
Utah with its close win over Air Force was only able to move up one spot to nine-teen in the coaches poll. I thought they would have over taken Miami, since they also played in overtime to an equal team in Clemson who is now 4-3 and a near equal Air Force.
The not as important AP poll has TCU at eight, Utah at 19, while BYU dropped to the others receiving votes category.
The BCS standings which will be released later today could be very, very close between four through nine as noted below from ESPNs Brad Edwards.
However the BCS Guru put together their projected top ten:
1. Florida, 2. Alabama, 3. Texas, 4. Iowa, 5. TCU, 6. Boise State, 7. Cincinnati, 8. USC, 9. LSU, 10. Oregon, 11. Georgia Tech, 12. Penn State, 13. Virginia Tech, 14. Oklahoma State, 15. Utah.

the good news first. utah is 16th in the bcs standings.
the bad news is tcu is only number 6. they are ahead of boise state but what boggle’s my mind is iowa is number 4. trust me jim delaney made alot of phone calls today. i even wrote this on an earlier comment. the bcs rankings did come out later in the day than last week. iowa resume includes a 1 point win over northern iowa at home. they had to hold onto a 3 point win vs arkansas state. they needed a last play td vs a 40-45th ranked michigan state team. new mexico could get there only win of the season if they played arkansas state at home this season. peace.

iowa and usc
For some reason the computers love iowa while the humans love usc. I can see iowa ahead just because of them beng unbeaten in the bg 10 but a one loss USC seems hard to believe especially since TCUs best win is better then TCU and TCU has no losses

USC Biased Love by Pollsters
That loss at Washington would kill anyone else in the nation. USC does have 3 wins against top 25 teams but that loss is looking uglier by the week. There are a few 1 loss teams where there loss came to a ranked team so I think they should be at least next to USC not 5-10 spots behind.

they are propping up usc in case texas losses. texas might lose to okie state
i said before the season began that florida would meet usc in pasadena for ncg.
look for many penalties on oregon this week at critical times. florida has gotten the benefit of the doubt two weeks straight, the sec apoligized again. i wonder if they will suspend those officials too. the sec might not have enough referee’s in to officiate the games for the rest of the season though. they can send those referee’s to the usc vs oregon game this week. some good news now, jerry hughes made the heisman list in today’s sports section of usa today. he obviously won’t win but he is the only defensive player listed. i must admit usa today has gone out of their way to print story’s on utah and tcu in the last couple of years. peace
