Spring Football Preview: BYU

Spring practice starts: March 16

Spring game: April 11

3 Things to watch

  1. Speed on defense. The Cougars need more athletes in the secondary, as they were burned too many times by even mediocre wide receivers.
  2. The offensive line only returns one starter, however the backups did get a lot of playing time with injuries. If the Cougars are going to have an offense like last year then the new line must come together quickly.
  3. BYU loses star receiver Austin Collie to the NFL. The team won't have the one go-to player, and should be a good thing which will force BYU to be more creative on offense. Plus, they return receiver McKay Jacobson returning from his mission in Japan, Jacobson was an instant impact player as a true Freshman.
