Spring Football Preview: Air Force

A new mini-series begins which will give out the dates for each team for spring workouts and three things to look for this spring.

Spring practice starts: Feb. 24

Spring game: April 4

3 Things to watch

  1. Air Force was a very young team last year and it showed at times. The spring should be used to get these young players the reps they need. The Falcons return 13 players, but several backups played significant snaps. Typically at Air Force it is upper classman who are typically the playmakers.
  2. Quarterback Tim Jefferson is going to have to work on his passing this spring just to give Air Force an option when it trails in games. Jefferson completed 44-of-80 passes for 655 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions. He should improve because Jefferson was only a Freshman last year.
  3. Seven players return on a defense that ranked fifth in the Mountain West in total defense. If the Falcons want to compete and move up into the top three the defense must improve.
