BYU adds Hawai'i to future schedule and recruiting

BYU has added Hawai'i to their schedule for the 2012 and 2013 season. These old WAC foes have not played since the 2002 season. BYU leads the overall series 19-8.

BYU with the off week hit the recruiting trail hard and Coach Bronco Mendenhall attended a local game in Utah with Bingham and West Jordan, and offered a scholarship to Harvey Langi who is only a sophomore, from Bingham and as of now is projected to be the best player in the 2010 season which would make him a 2011 signee.

The offer is an only an oral offer, because a school can give a written offer until the first day of the students junior year. Langi has also been offered by University of Utah during the summer, and Langi is considered a top 100 recruit by recruiting service maxprepsports.com

As of now BYU has offered to this players for the upcoming recruiting season. This is speculative because coaches can not talk about specific recruits until they have signed.
* Manti Te'o, a linebacker from Laie, Haw., Punahou High School.

* Richard Wilson, a tight end from Spanish Fork High.

* Xavier Su'a-Filo, a lineman from Timpview High.

* Kyle Van Noy, a linebacker/tight end from Reno, Nev., McQueen High School.

* Latu Heimuli, a defensive tackle from Highland High.

* Steven Fanua, a linebacker from Milpitas, Calif.

* L.T. Filiaga, a linebacker from Bingham High.

* Brad Wilcox, a lineman from Edmond, Okla., North High School.

Awesome! It’s great to see the “Bows” back on the Cougars’ schedule. I hope the Hawaii football stadium has natural grass. Too many players suffered injuries as a result of playing on the artificial turf.
Also, it’s great to see so many Utah High School players being recruited by BYU. It just goes to show that the Utah High Schools are really producing good players.
