11/23 Basketball Preview

Sorry about not getting any other previews in this week, it has just been busy around here with everything, but here is todays previews.

#6 (3-0) (4-0)

Las Vegas Invite, Orleans Arena 6PM PT TV: BYU-TV/

This is a battle of unbeaten teams that meet in Las Vegas, and so far neither team has been challenged, but if you look at the schedule both teams have played Hartford and Jackson State which is quite odd to have nearly identically schedule early on. This game should be interesting because the game is at Las Vegas and there should be a decent amount of BYU fans due to the holiday weekend and the close proximity of Las Vegas to Provo (6 hour drive). Also add into the fact that the Cardinals are without their top post players in David Padgett and Juan Palacios which could be problems for Louisville. BYU should use Trent Plaisted to take advantage of the Cardinals big man problems and that could keep BYU close. However Louisville is ranked 6th in the country and should be able to hold off BYU and give the Cougars their first loss.

(4-0) (0-4)

Hispanic College Basketball Fund, Spokane, WA 5PM PT TV: NONE

Air Force is the early surprise team of the conference and is looking for a 5-0 start against the Devils of Mississippi Valley State in Spokane for a mini tournament this weekend. This is yet another team in the SWAC that the conference has played, and these games while in tournaments need to be avoided because most teams in this league carry n RPI in the 200's or below and kill the conference RPI. Air Force should roll since MVSU is 0-4 and has lost every game by at least 30 points with the exception of the 9 point loss to Northern Arizona. Look for Air Force to be 5-0 and not be challenged until the play Washington State on Sunday.
